The Deeper Dream

Mind slowly shutting down
eyes already closed
conscious thought is fading
embracing the sleep you chose.

Drifting ever deeper down
oblivion firmly taking hold
to the deeper dream you go
the path is dark and cold

Down too deep with no way back
streams of thought surround
pushing you further on
watching as you drown

Your mind they want to inhabit
dreamworlds seek to take control
the strong quickly defeat the weak
it’s time to pay the toll

Like it yes or like it not
the course must run unbroken.
When curtains rise on mind’s great stage
a dream has now been chosen.

Live another life completely
be it good or full of horror
until you feel the sweet release
there is no exit door.

Hurry Up and Wait

Many times this day
your face has been viewed
looking for that which is sought.
From you we await our queue
the time you give our only thought.

Long awaited, the time has come.
The mass exit ensues.
Out the door a mad dash is made.
And now we have to choose.

Follow the horde and wait our turn
for an elevator moving so slow
or take the stairs 8 floors down
to keep us on the go.

Decision made, from the building we rush.
Into our cars we climb.
Backing out and driving on
we take our spot in the line.

The parking garage, just another hurdle
To continue once again we must wait.
Around the last corner the end is there.
We’re finally through the exit gate.

Free at last, to the freeway we fly
our place in the herd is found.
Flowing along with the others we speed
happy to be homeward bound.

Smiles falter as we notice a change
our speed is slowing down.
Red lights are all that we see
as we take a quick look around.

Now in the midst of a traffic jam
ever so slowly we crawl.
Journey’s end gets farther away
Frustration building in us all.

Foot by foot we work our way forward
passing the cause of the delay.
Traffic flowing much faster now
we are once again on our way.

Almost home, the end in sight
but arriving an hour late.
Pondering why we do this mad rush
when all we do is hurry up and wait.

Taking Chances

One year to the day
hard choices made, he took a chance.
A new path found, he placed his steps
hoping life would be enhanced.

Seven months to the day
another chance he chose to take.
Quick and sweet was his reward
heart claimed with Love’s planted stake.

Six months to the day
An important question he did pop.
A yes was said as she declared
her love for him would never stop.

Five months to the day
to live as one, they happily decided.
No longer would they have to stay
living as a couple divided.

Two months from this day
a walk down an aisle, she will make.
As love filled eyes connect, he’ll smile
knowing from him his name she’ll take.

The days, months and years to follow
will be the happiest they’ve had yet.
Taking a chance was all it took
had he not, he and she would not have met.

What if Love Grew on Trees?

I painted this picture the other night when I couldn’t sleep. I call it my  “Whimsy Tree”. I was instantly inspired to write this poem. I hope you like them both.

What if Love Grew on Trees?

What if love grew on trees
oh how happy we would be.
To the tree we’d hurry forth
ready to embrace its warmth.

At its base we’d stare in awe.
Truly amazed at what we saw.
Nestled in among the leaves
glowing hearts for you and me.

On the branch we’d place our hand.
There is no need to reach.
Love flows freely down
to us it wants to greet.

Hearts entwine and merge as one
the transfer is complete.
Filled with love we take our leave.
Happiness found with gift received.

Be it man, woman or child
Mother, lover or friend
Love of every kind grows true.
All broken hearts it can mend.

Love awaits right outside your door.
Contentment to be had forevermore.
Everyone would be so pleased
if only love grew on trees.

Working It Out

My weight has gotten out of hand. Drastic measures are being taken to ensure I am not a fat bride on my wedding day. I…. have joined a gym. And… I am actually going. This is day two of working out. Considering I am allergic to exercise, I’m surprised I’m still living and coming back for more.  Yet here I am. Perhaps the self diagnosis was wrong? 😉

To work out my weddingplanning stress I have been painting like a mad woman. Attached is an abstract I finished last week. It is yet untitled. I also attached my painting titled “Veins”.
